Plastic-Free Dish Soap Bars
I've been using this soap for about a week now. A little bit goes a long way - though I'm still trying to figure out an ideal storage solution besides just having it sit on the edge of my kitchen sink. It does a good job cleaning plates, silverware, and pots, though it doesn't always foam as much as I'm used to. I'm pretty sure that's just an aesthetic thing. The smell is nice, too. My big complaint is that glassware washed with this soap dry with soap scum spots on them. At first I was just letting them air dry, and the soap scum was really bad. Now I immediately wipe them dry with a towel, and that seems to get rid of most of the soap spots.
Regardless of its environmental benefits, this is the best dishwashing soap I have ever used. It really cuts the grease and it has a built-in reward for its use: an aroma that takes me back in time. I keep it in a small dish, small enough that the bar rides on the sides of the dish, not touching the bottom. Any fine soap deserves as much.
I never thought a single product would make me love dishwashing, but there it is. I am *in love* with this dish soap bar. The scent of the soap is mild, but soothing. It smells faintly citrusy, with woodsy, herbaceous notes that smell like a log cabin in the winter. I use this soap bar with a soft, bamboo scrubby dishcloth, and it suds up like a dream! A couple of swishes on the wet dishcloth to load up the soap and I generate enough suds for a full load of pots and pans, so this soap bar lasts a long time (keep it dry and well drained when not in use). Seriously, I've had to move the dish rack away to avoid sudsy bubbles splashing up on it. The soap degreases very effectively, yet rinses away easily and dishes are left squeaky clean. Doing the dishes is now fairly therapeutic for me, because it reminds me of being on vacation in a log cabin! The only downside is - I'm now the only one washing up in my house, but I'm not complaining!
