Platypus is a remarkable, unique, species; the result of evolution by natural selection, which explains all of the “weird” attributes you describe. But who would listen to you if you talked about science?
I love platypuses. They are so interesting and unique. Next you should talk about Opossums, which are also unique and have a bad reputation for such a smart and very docile animal. They are immune to a lot of diff venoms, poisons, and even ticks (which they also eat) and their literal only defense is playing dead which unfortunately doesn’t always works, which accounts for their shot three year lifespan.
