- Fill a dispenser or jar with 375 ml (12.7 oz) of hot water.
- Rip open your pod of concentrated dish soap over the jar and squeeze the soap into the water.
- Stir the mixture, cover with the lid or cap and give the dispenser a good shake. Let it sit for an hour before first use.
- Dispose of the pod in the component or garbage (rest assured that it will biodegrade in either). NOTE: some municipal composting programs won't accept natural waxes, so ensure yours does before adding.
- Squirt some soap into your sink or onto your scrubby and clean those dishes like a pro.
- Rinse any soap from your dishes using hot water and for the best results, dry them with a clean cloth after you are done.
Each soap pod makes 400 ml / 13.5 oz of dish soap.
Yes! It has an average amount of suds and foam - not too little, not too much.
Simply rinse out the pod, break it up and put in either a backyard compost or dirt. 1 pod can also be placed in a countertop composter such as the LOMI, and because it is made of natural waxes, oils and resins, it could really be disposed of anywhere without leaving a harmful trace. It will typically take 3 - 6 months to decompose in a natural compost pile with a good microbe mix.
These plastic-free pods are handmade in our Toronto area shop, so you can trust that not only are our employees fairly treated, they're also free to goof it up from time to time. We kept it local with getting someone in the Toronto area to formulate our dish soap concentrate, too!
- When you subscribe to our subscription plan, we ship you product every 1-6 months.
- Includes free shipping.
- Cancel anytime.
How to use our dish soap concentrate
- Rip the pod open at one of the ends
- Squeeze the pod from the opposite end and aim the soap into the jar
- Shake and let rest for 20 minutes
- Rinse pod and compost or re-use the wax for other projects such as candles!
Your loofie | Our planet
Ditch that plastic yellow & green scrub & sponge at last! Our plastic-free Loofie Scrubber (affectionately known as 'Loofie') is a combination of the gentle scrubbing power of the fibrous loofah plant and the spongy cellulose-cotton cellulose dishcloth. They're even sewn together using cotton thread (rather than the all too commonly used polyester thread) which makes for reusable & biodegradable dish cleaning with absolutely no plastic.
Ditch the paper towel
For more than just cleaning your dishes, these bad boys dry 10x faster than cotton, so they don't get stinky like other cloths do! They're great for dishes, but also a fantastic paper towel replacement! Our cellulose cloths are made of wood & cotton cellulose which makes them fully compostable, dishwasher & machine-wash safe and last for several months! Less waste - totally plastic-free.
Glass soap dispenser
A perfect dispenser to house your new dish or hand soap!
Grab a 16 oz glass mason jar with a black pump top (with a plastic straw - this pump has the least plastic that we could source and is offered only due to popular demand).
It's easy to use, slick, classy and looks great on your kitchen counter.
This is a great product. We have been using it for years.
I was very skeptical about the dish soap, especially because of the 'don't expect synthetic foam' message. I followed the instructions to mix the soap and was very surprised to see that it formed the gel-like consistency of bottled dish soap. When I used it, it suds-ed nicely, and it smelled good! The scrubber and cloth are also very nice - the scrubber works well and the cloth is very absorbent. I'm glad I saw the 'ultimate mature thirst trap' videos on TikTok and was convinced to try etee products!
Amanda! You get a special response because we LOVE hearing that you saw the Thirst traps. So good. Joshua is an awesome guy, thanks for letting us know.
Cleans well but it is not super tough on grease. Still like it for the concept and will buy again!
I wasn’t sure what to get for my zero waste journey in the kitchen. I’m so glad I chose the dishwashing kit! The loofie spong is great. It scrubs sticky labels of jars for reusing, stubborn food residue off dishes, and more, without any scratching. I made sure to use hot water when reconstituing the dishwashing soap concentrate, and within a few minutes it was the think gel consistency you’d expect from a conventional dishsoap. The little cloth thing is perfect for wiping down the counters at the end of the day or wiping up spills. The jar/soap dispenser is definitely handy, although you could probably get away with reusing a different container if you had one lying around. I feel good knowing that there isn’t any plastic waste generated from this purchase. The beeswax tube was a little odd, but not difficult to open or squeeze, although I’m not sure what to do with the empty tube, as I don’t have any beeswax wraps to refresh, nor do I have access to composting right now. You do get a ton of soap, with the three tubes of concentrate.
This would make a great housewarming gift or anytime gift for the folks in your life that might need a little nudge to go ‘green.'
Was a gift so hasn't been used yet but receiver was excited. Arrived quickly.
Have been using the dishwashing kit for a few weeks. The dish soap is just ok. I find it starts out fairly thick but gets really watery near the bottom meaning you have to use more pumps to get enough soap on the dishes. I tried really shaking the second pod but got the same result.
