Benefits

PRESERVE YOUR FOOD - PROTECT YOUR FAMILY

Plastic releases pesky chemicals that leach into our food and our bodies. It's causing quite a stir:

"Most plastic products, from sippy cups to food wraps, can release chemicals that act like the sex hormone estrogen, according to a study in Environmental Health Perspectives."
(National Public Radio)

Our wraps are plastic free, they preserve food - naturally - with beeswax, coniferous tree resins and essential oils all infused in an organic cotton cloth.

HELP OUR LANDFILLS SHED SOME POUNDS

Our landfills & oceans would benefit from a low plastic diet and single use plastics are the main culprit...

"Today Americans discard about 33.6 million tons of plastic each year, but only 6.5 percent of it is recycled and 7.7 percent is combusted in waste-to-energy facilities... The rest ends up in landfills where it may take up to 1,000 years to decompose, and potentially leak pollutants into the soil and water."
(Columbia University's Earth Institute)

Our wraps are reusable and because they're all natural, when you're done with them, they go away - just toss them in your compost or trash and they'll decompose like leaves...

A POP OF COLOUR

Organic food is now widely available.

Why?

Because it's better for our bodies and planet. So why are we still using plastic - which can't biodegrade and is proven to leach chemicals into the soil we grow our food? It doesn't make sense.

But our wraps do...

Each time you see these bright beauties, they'll help remind you that there is a better way.

INGREDIENTS

Have you ever heard of King Tut? He's the most renowned Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. And we know all about him because his tomb was discovered in the 1920s. His body had been preserved for more than 3,000 years using beeswax and coniferous tree resins.

“Coniferous resins, the scientists [Stephen Buckley and Richard Evershed, of the University of Bristol] explain, can slow microbial degradation, whereas beeswax has antibacterial properties and serves as a sealant.” (Scientific American)

So we applied those same principles to food preservation and storage and added a few additional ingredients...

BEESWAX

BEESWAX

Beeswax provides an antibacterial seal over perishables. We also added a touch of non-gmo soy wax to our recipe to make the wraps stickier, which helps it to adhere to bowls.

CONIFEROUS TREE RESINS

CONIFEROUS TREE RESINS

Coniferous tree resin helps to prevent the beeswax from cracking when cooled, while also slowing microbial degradation.

ORGANIC JOJOBA OIL

ORGANIC JOJOBA OIL

Organic Jojoba oil is antibacterial and helps to soften the wax, making the wraps more malleable and tacky.

ORGANIC CINNAMON OIL

ORGANIC ESSENTIAL CINNAMON OIL

Organic Essential Cinnamon Oil adds antibacterial properties, while also offsetting the sweet honey aroma.

ORGANIC CLOVE OIL

ORGANIC ESSENTIAL CLOVE OIL

Organic Essential Clove Oil is antibacterial and off-sets the sweet aroma of the beeswax.

ORGANIC COTTON

HEMP & ORGANIC COTTON

All our ingredients are infused in a blended hemp (55%) & organic cotton (45%) muslin fabric that is dyed with non-toxic, eco-friendly dyes.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

The wraps are great. The 3 sizes are helpful and they hold their shape well. Ordered them at the same time as the canvas Tote and all were delivered quickly. Even liked the ETEE packaging they all came in...organic feel, thoughtful and true to it's brand and mission.

AMAZING! I love love love these wraps! They are so versatile and are so easy to use! I have used them to wrap cheese, melons, sandwiches and many other items. I will NEVER go back to plastic wrap! I will surely order some more of these in the future!

Jessica Brown - Elginburg, ON

I am trying to (slowly) transition into a more Zero Waste lifestyle and these are perfect. So far I've used them to wrap my lunch items - they're nice and light so I don't have to carry my big glass containers around. I couldn't be more happy! What a great alternative to plastic!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I Really Get My Money Back in 90 Days?

Absolutely. Here's the thing, if you're not happy, we're not happy, so if our wraps are not what you expect, we will gladly refund 100% of the cost within 90 days (the average life of a well used wrap) and you can keep them, no need to return...

How Long Do They Last?

On average, each sheet should get about 120 - 150 uses, but it ultimately depends on how often and how intensively and for what purpose you use them. Some people will get a year out of them - especially when used as bowl toppers - while others who beat them up on a daily basis may get closer to 5 / 6 months.

How Do They Work?

Simply warm them in your hands and wrap them around produce, bowls, sandwiches, nuts, snacks, cheese and cooked / smoked meats - virtually any perishable. The wraps stick to themselves and provide a clean and protective seal. They cool and cure almost instantly.

Shipping Fees Are Annoying, What do You Charge?

They bug us too. So if you're in the US or Canada, your shipping is FREE. We use very efficient and eco-friendly envelopes, so international shipping fees are very reasonable.

Reusable? I Don't Get it, Won't They Get Dirty?

Fear not friend. After use, simply rinse in cold water - hot water will reduce the wax coating - and wash with an eco-friendly soap (avoid alcohol based soaps) and a soft sponge, just like you would a plate or bowl. Once clean you can either hang to dry or use a towel and re-use immediately. They may - with certain foods like pomegranate - develop a darker patina, but as long as you keep working them they'll keep delivering freshness.

What kind of dye is used? Is it Fair Trade cotton?

Fair question! All our dyes are non toxic and free of heavy metals, AZOs and formaldehyde found in typical textile dyes. They also utilize very little water, of which a great portion is recycled. They are certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard - recognized as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres - which means they are also in compliance with social criteria. You can learn more here: http://www.global-standard.org/

Will They Work In A Freezer?

30 days or less, yes! But they're not recommended for uncooked meat.

What Sizes Do They Come In?

Each pack includes:

  1. Small Teal wrap (7" x 8") - good for cut cucumbers, avocados, small trail mix, fruit and to top jars.
  2. Medium Green wrap (10" x 11") - good for cheese, large trail mix, half a sandwich, half a cabbage, medium bowls, grape tomatoes and baked goods
  3. Large Grey wrap (12" x 14") - good for sandwiches & left over pizza slices, celery, cheese, larger bowl or dish, larger melon, grapes, greens, beans and asparagus.
What Shouldn't They Be Used For?

Avoid uncooked meats, long term freezer use (more than a month) and microwaves (unless you want to add a little beeswax soup to your bowl of zoodles).
