I love these masks. I have 4 of them, and ALWAYS have one in my workout bag. I train at a small private gym in limited groups. I wear my Etee accordian pleated mask for the entire workout; ditto at spin class. They are pretty wet with sweat after an hour, but I never feel suffocated . They wash up like a dream. One critique is : on a couple of the masks the elastic loop is too tight... I give them a good tug right before putting them on. I work in health care, so I have a LOT of masks in various styles and fabrics, but I love my etee the best!
Thank you so much for your feedback Mary, we appreciate that so much! I'm so happy to hear your etees are your favourite!!
Most comfortable, lightweight mask and it's organic cotton!! Lots of anxiety sometimes with having a mask on my face but less with this one! Thank you
That's so great to hear Donna, thank you so much for your feedback!

etee's 100% organic cotton face masks are handmade in Toronto. They are reusable and washable, and therefore do not contribute to the global shortage of masks, while providing an alternative to single use synthetic masks.
Each mask is double layered with elastic loops and a built-in pocket for replaceable filters.
Jen - featured above - developed the pattern (after a ton of research) and sewed the first batch of 200. She's an awesome woman and a key member of our production team. Since the Covid-crisis she's been staying home a couple days a week to help with her kids and so this sewing project helps her continue to work, while staying home.
Since we first launched our Face Masks in April of 2020, we have have donated more than 23,000 masks across Canada and the United states with our 'Buy One, Donate One' program!
How Effective are Cloth Masks?
There has been a lot of debate about the wearing of masks - some scientific and some cultural. The opinions vary greatly depending on the country of origin, but recently, western experts are embracing the idea of using masks. And while N95 'surgical' grade masks should be kept for front line healthcare workers, cotton masks such as these are gaining support in helping to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, particularly for people who are carrying the virus, but don't have symptoms..
"Writing last month, Adrien Burch, an expert in microbiology at the University of California, Berkeley, noted that "despite hearing that face masks 'don't work,' you probably haven't seen any strong evidence to support that claim. That's because it doesn't exist. In fact, there is evidence of the exact opposite: that masks help prevent viral infections like the current pandemic....
"Based on the research, face masks are much more likely to help than to hurt," according to Burch. "Even if it's just a homemade cloth mask, if you wear it correctly and avoid touching it, the science suggests that it won't hurt you and will most likely reduce your exposure to the virus."
(CNN, James Griffiths, April 1, 2020)
What's more: "The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is now advising Americans to voluntarily wear a basic cloth or fabric face mask when they go out to help curb the spread of the new coronavirus.” Los Angeles Times, April 3, 2020
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Avoid touching your mask while on your face. After use, put it directly in the washing machine and be sure to wash your hands.
IMPORTANT HEALTH NOTE: These are non-medical masks and do not provide the same health protection as regulated N95 respirators or surgical masks. Please remember to continue practicing social distancing, washing your hands and refraining from touching your face. Follow the latest advice of the CDC and your own health care professionals regarding the best ways to keep you, your family and friends, and the general public safe.
