  • I would like a smaller thermos to fit inside a lunchbox. Juice boxes are so popular, but use a lot of packaging that needs to be thrown away. A smaller thermos with a straw that could fit inside a lunchbox would help. A lot of the thermoses are too big to fit in a child’s lunchbox.

  • It would be great to have a line of makeup that comes in glass or compostable packaging.

  • I threw out all my Tupperware and now that I find out how much lead it contains I am really glad I did so. However, whenever I want to carry a pie, cake or plate of deviled eggs to a get-together, I don’t have a good way to cover them to transport them. I love your wraps but they are not good on hot or gooey items or items that need to not have the top touched. What about a more solid container to transport these larger goodies? Also what about a safe freezer wrap perhaps by the roll for meats, or something else that would work for that purpose. I hate freezing meats in styrofoam and plastic, because it just adds toxins.

  • I would like to see more concentrated products (dish soap, dishwasher detergent and other cleaners) that we can just add water to and reuse the containers. In some parts of Canada it’s common to go to a store and refill your own jug for products. That would be great too. Also the stiffer bags that vegetables come in are not recyclable – couldn’t they be made of something earth friendly?

  • Lots of good ideas.
I see a re-usable and/or truly compostable (in home compost system) produce bag to replace the plastic bags and the plastic tubs that baby greens come in. The production of the bag/container needs to be local – ie: multiple local small facilities that support local economy and avoid transportation/pollution. The container needs to come from plants or other renewable substances which support/renew the local habitat/soil/wildlife. As regards all the ideas for containers for various"products" – how many “products” do we really need to be clean and healthy? I’m not sure I even agree with your idea of developing 20 new products…really?! Maybe you would serve the planet better to develop ideas for local use. And definitely stop producing stuff in China. Thanks for listening.

  • I put together my own but would love to see you design a great looking purse-type cooler bag with its own to-go containers that fit into it so people could inconspicuously it take into restaurants and not have to use the restaurant’s boxes and containers for any leftovers. There could be several “Designer Prints”, which I’d also be happy to contribute to the project!!

  • Biodegradable tights.
I think the root of the problem is lack of biodegradable materials on the massive scale. Create a substitute to current plastic tubs and jars for make-up and skincare and approach the manufacturers of the actual products to use your biodegradable packaging to use for all those lipsticks, mascaras, eyeshadows etc.

  • Travel size /3 oz containers that are plastic free for shampoo, lotions and conditioners that are refillable from larger containers.

Travel pill boxes for meds and vitamins.

  • I’m thinking of two ideas:
    1) a plastic-free replacement for potato chip and other snack food bags, that could be marketed to manufacturers of these products. I tried just not throwing out the bags for a couple/few months, but couldn’t figure out what to do with them to upcycle/recycle them, and they just started piling up. I’d love to find a plastic-free alternative packaging material, so I don’t have to feel guilty about the environment AND my waist line when I buy my favourite snack foods. :)

    2) a plastic-free version of the disposable toothpick-floss combo tools people are using these days. I’m not sure if traditional dental floss was any better (still in plastic containers, and maybe the fiber is now also plastic?), but these little gizmos seem so wasteful, and leave plastic litter all over!

    3) Oh, and maybe a plastic-free/biodegradable drink cup lid option that fast food retailers could use instead of the plastic lids they have now? I see these all over the ground when I’m walking from one place to another. There seems to be a move towards paper straws, but now we need the rest of the containers to go plastic-free! I know it’s better to make your own food than to buy out, especially fast-food, but lots of us are still needing fast, convenient options for busy days, and I just wish the planet didn’t have to pay the price for that.

    4) Along the lines of your plastic-free lipbalm containers, maybe a plastic-free deodorant/antiperspirant? I currently buy NakedKittyNaturals (nakedkittynaturals.com) bergamot lime-scented deodorant (I love the scent and it’s one of the few that I’ve found that isn’t messy AND actually keeps me smelling good), and wonder if you could partner with them on some plastic-free packaging?

So, there are a few ideas…
I love that you’re looking for more ways to replace plastic! Thank you, and please keep up the good work!
